Projects

Community planting days are a great way for people to give back to their community and get involved in restoring their local creeks.

The Ōtara Waterways and Lake Trust is also encouraging and supporting local communities to care for their local awa through the "Adopt a Spot programme.

The intention of the Adopt a Spot project is to support and empower community groups or neighbours to care and restore sections of the waterway through litter removal, weed control and riparian planting, and to maintain these areas long-term.

Currently the Adopt a Spot programme is focused on restoring the Ōtara Creek Reserve.

Details of planting and volunteer days can be found on the Ōtara Waterways and Lake Trust's Facebook page.
